Check Your Print Quota
You can now check your print quota usage on the web from anywhere in the world - no need to talk to a lab consultant. This online tool requires that you authenticate yourself with your CSU eID and CSU eID Password. You will then be shown what your current quota is as well as information about all of the print jobs you have sent to the CNS E100 Computer Lab Printer. 2008 Mac Image
2007 Mac Image

These computers are constantly being updated to run the newest set of applications and boast features many of the lab residents will really enjoy.
  • Roaming Home Directories: The Mac image now allows a user to have a home directory "roam" with them from computer to computer (E100 Macintosh Computers only). So, you can now change your desktop background, keep files on your desktop or documents folder, add bookmarks to your favorite browser, and even save the layout and configuration of your Apple Widgets!
  • Additional Applications: Whether its using your favorite web browser, or killing time with some of the available OS X Tiger Widgets (press the 'F12' key to access Dashboard), you will agree that the new image comes equipped. There are even some "unpublished" surprises that make procrastination simple and manageable.
Logging In
In order to log in to any of the computers in the CNS you will need to provide your CSU eID and CSU eID password. These credentials are the same used for your CSU e-mail account, WebCT, and RamPoint. You can change your CSU eID account information by visiting the following link.

Printing
The CNS Computer Lab comes equipped with high speed black and white laser printing (HP LaserJet 4350). However, because printing is a costly service to maintain a print quota is enforced.

QUOTA POLICY UPDATE

Current Quota: 600 credits per user per Fall and Spring semester, 500 credits per Summer semester

Beginning on Monday, October 10th, 2005 the print quota system will be revised for useability, accountability, and flexibility. Rather than a weekly quota that refreshes each week, each user will have a semesterly quota. We will be awarding each user 600 credits of printing each Fall and Spring semester and 500 credits per Summer semester for which they can use at any time - whether it is all in one week, or spread throughout the semester. We will be evaluating the printer costs and adjusting these quota limits for future semesters - at the begining of each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer), quota limits will be refreshed for each user's account.

Credit charges will be deducted from a user's quota using the following system:

One page printed in simplex mode (Single Sided) will charge 1.2 credits
One page printed in duplex mode (Double Sided) will charge 1.0 credit

In order to check your current print quota, please use the following online tool:

Check Your Print Quota

Once you run out of quota, you will not be able to print. Additional quota will not be granted for any reason.
As a result of these restrictions you must be very careful about what you are printing. Some useful tips include always printing in duplex mode (both sides), and only printing what is absolutely necessary - don't print one Power Point slide per sheet. Please address the lab consultant on duty for tips on smart printing.
Computer Hardware
The computing lab has a total of 27 computers, 23 of which are running Mac OS X.4 (Tiger) and 4 of which are running Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
