My current research goal is to answer the question, “how does genetic diversity within species contribute to stress resistance and ecosystem function?” Most recently, my interests have taken me to the tallgrass prairies of eastern Kansas, as well as mixed-grass and shortgrass systems in the foothills of the Rockies. However, I hope to apply my methods to many systems - including agricultural systems. I focus on big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii) and blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis), both dominant grasses with a huge amount of genetic diversity.
