Professor June Medford’s Perspective on Synthetic Biology in Science magazine
Posted: February 22nd, 2015
Professor June Medford and colleage Dr. Ashok Prasad (Chemical and Biological Engineering) published a perspective article on the burgeoning field of synthetic biology in Science (October 10, 2014), “Plant synthetic biology takes root : Applying the basic principles of synthetic biology to plants shows progress” (Science, October 10, 2014) http://wp.natsci.colostate.edu/medfordlab/files/2014/10/ScienceSynBio.pdf .
Synthetic biology integrates analysis of mathematical models of molecular genetic pathways to transform organisms to carry out specialized functions, and shows great promise in understanding basic regulatory and in applications in areas like bioenergy and security.
