Schedule an Appointment
To log in to the appointment scheduler and set up an appointment, you will need to create a user account for yourself (if you have not done so already). If you are a first time user, note that the system does not automatically recognize your CSU username and ID. You will need to set up a new account. To allow for maximal availability, the Department of Biology does not assign advisors to students. You are welcome to meet with any of the Academic Support Coordinators.
If this is your first meeting with a Department of Biology advisor, you must review the curriculum for your major before coming to your meeting. Click here (http://www.biology.colostate.edu/undergraduates/degree-requirements) to find the requirements for your major, along with a presentation explaining all of the requirements. After you have reviewed your degree requirements, your advisor will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Reviewing your degree requirements ahead of time allows for more time to be spent discussing other important things during your first meeting.
While the Department of Biology Academic Support Coordinators can help with many things, there are some things that they cannot do. Please note these things that the Academic Support Coordinators cannot do for you:
- Override you into a class that is full, a class for which you do not meet the prerequisites, or time conflict overrides. Only the course instructors can do those overrides for you. Likewise, you’ll need to contact the department that teaches the course in question for any help. The Department of Biology only teaches LIFE and BZ courses; all other course questions/requests must go through the respective department.
- Let you into another department’s major or minor. You must visit the department that houses the major or minor in question to get added to the program in which you are interested. Please note that the BMS minor is not in the Department of Biology. You need to contact the Biomedical Sciences Department to add that minor: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/bms/ugminor_progoverview.htm
- Make a 4-year plan for you. You are responsible for making your own 4-year plan. The Academic Support Coordinators are here to help make sure your plan will work. Instructions for creating a 4-year plan and sample plans can be found here: Creating-a-4-year-plan.pdf
