About

Hi, I am Avery! I am a fourth-year Zoology student at Colorado State University with a strong interest in animal care, behavior, conservation and marine mammals. I have worked as a zookeeper for the past four years, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of species and developing skills in animal husbandry, enrichment, training, and daily care. Through CSU, I also had the opportunity to study dolphin behavior and physiology in Honduras, which further strengthened my passion for marine mammals and the ocean. My long-term goal is to pursue a career working with marine mammals and contribute to the conservation and care of ocean wildlife, while eventually taking on a leadership role within a zoological or aquatic facility. I joined the PSM program as an AMP student to build the management, leadership, and professional skills needed to combine my hands-on animal experience with my future career in the animal field.
