Description:Join Us for the 22nd Annual Thornton-Massa Lecture Series\nColo
rado State University is proud to welcome Dr. José R. Dinneny as the di
stinguished speaker for the 2025 Thornton-Massa Lecture Series. This two-
day event offers a unique opportunity to explore the future of agriculture
and plant biology through the lens of a world-renowned scientist.\nScient
 ific Lecture\n\n Date: Monday\, September 29\, 2025\n Time: 3:00 p.m.\
 n Location: BHSCI A101\n Open to: CSU Faculty\, Staff\, and Students\n\
nTopic: Understanding the Cellular and Organ-Scale Mechanisms Plants Use t
o Survive with Limited Water\nThe Dinneny lab investigates how cellular an
d developmental processes enable plants to survive limited and heterogeneo
us water availability. I will present work on mechanisms that protect cell
s from hyperosmotic stress by maintaining plasma membrane–cell wall atta
chments\, as well as studies on how roots sense and respond to spatial var
iation in soil moisture through local regulation of branching and anatomy.
Together\, these findings illustrate multi-scale plant adaptation strateg
ies and highlight pathways for potential crop improvement.\n\n 3:00 pm
