About
Sammy's capstone project at CSU will be attempting aggression mitigation in a female red-ruffed lemur, especially in relation to another unrelated female. She will also be conducting a broad literature review of aggression mitigation in captive primates.
Sammy has a BA in Biology and History from Hamilton College, where she researched my two theses on the effects of deer exclosures on small mammal populations and depictions of anthropomorphic mice in Victorian-era children's literature. Currently, she works as a zookeeper and leads her zoo's Safety Committee. Through the PSM program, she hopes to continue her career in zoos to eventually reach a curator position and have a greater impact on both the people and animals she works with. She has previous experience in several different animal care fields throughout her career, including various equestrian facilities, rescues, ranches, and ecology labs.
