Additional Information

The ability of organisms to survive seasonal or sporadic cycles of food deprivation and to efficiently store energy when nutrients are available has a selective advantage. Variation in these abilities or in the utilization of these abilities in modern societies, without such cycles, contributes to metabolic disease in humans. However, our knowledge concerning the molecular players executing and coordinating metabolic regulation in whole living animals is far from complete. I will be presenting our advances on uncovering the full set of genes coordinately maintaining energy homeostasis in a metazoan.
